Why I made Phone Jail

I built Phone Jail because I felt like my time was being stolen by algorithms that made me behave like a lab rat hitting a cocaine lever.

I kept giving away precious hours of my life to tech companies. And what did I get in return? A fried nervous system and a stiff neck.

I used to be fascinated by how technology manipulates behavior. A decade ago, I dreamed of working at Facebook or Instagram, designing the very systems that would eventually hijack my attention.

As the years went by, I became compulsive. Even when I picked up my phone for something useful, I'd end up sinking 15 minutes into some pointless digital rabbit hole.

I tried everything—dumb phones, app blockers, leaving my phone in another room. Nothing stuck.

So I built Phone Jail. It's a physical lockbox for your attention. It lets you keep what matters—maps, calls, texts—while locking up what doesn't.

Now it can help you too.
